Natural killer cells are part of the innate immune system. They eliminate abnormal cells by:
Releasing cytotoxic proteins (perforin and granzymes) that induce cell death.
Producing cytokines such as interferon-γ (IFN-γ), which activate other immune cells.
Mediating antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), where they kill antibody-coated target cells.
