Plan Your Week with the Moon (In 10 Minutes or Less!)

If you’ve ever sat down to plan your week and immediately felt overwhelmed, stuck, or totally unmotivated, you are not alone. And it’s likely not even because you’re bad at planning…

Most likely, it’s because you’re planning against your energy instead of with it.

In this article, I’m going to show you how to plan your week using the moon phases in just 10 minutes. No spreadsheets, no rigid routines, and no extra burnout.

It’s intuitive, seasonal, and designed to help handmade business owners like you stay focused without forcing it.

Weekly Planning with the Moon Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated

Let’s get this clear first: you don’t need to follow a perfectly detailed lunar calendar to get results. Moon-aligned planning isn’t about perfection. It’s about noticing the energetic themes of the current moon phase and letting that shape your priorities.

There are four main phases you’ll want to pay attention to each week: New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Moon. Each phase brings a different flavor of energy:

  • 🌑 New Moon = intention-setting, quiet focus, vision

  • 🌓 Waxing Moon = action-taking, building momentum

  • 🌕 Full Moon = visibility, launch energy, celebration

  • 🌗 Waning Moon = reflection, editing, closing loops

You don’t need a cosmic degree to feel your energy shift with these phases. Your body already knows. This is just about giving your brain a way to follow your body’s lead.

The Balance and Thrive Starter Kit pages spread out with the guided Reiki meditation on a phone.

If you want a little support with this kind of intuitive rhythm, my Balance & Thrive Starter Kit is a great place to begin. It includes an energetic planning guide and a 5-minute Reiki reset to help you check in when your energy’s overwhelmed.

Now let’s walk through exactly how you can use these phases to plan your week in 10 minutes or less.

Your 10-Minute Weekly Planning Flow

You don’t need a long ritual or planner stack. Just a simple check-in and 3 intentional questions.

Start by noticing what moon phase you’re currently in. (A free app like Moonly or My Moon Phase will tell you.) Once you know the phase, grab your notebook, planner, or Notes app and answer these:

  1. What kind of energy do I feel in my body this week?

    1. Is it go-time? Or do I need to rest and recharge?

  2. What does this moon phase support?

    1. 🌑 New Moon = intention-setting, quiet focus, vision

    2. 🌓 Waxing Moon = action-taking, building momentum

    3. 🌕 Full Moon = visibility, launch energy, celebration

    4. 🌗 Waning Moon = reflection, editing, closing loops

  3. What’s one meaningful action I can take that aligns with both?

And that’s it. You can add more if you want, but this 3-question check-in is powerful all on its own.

This method takes less time than scrolling Instagram, and it sets you up to make progress without burning yourself out. Plus, when you stack this practice week after week, you’ll start seeing patterns. You'll learn what kinds of tasks feel easy during each moon phase, and what drains you.

This is how consistency happens: not by forcing the same energy every week,

but by honoring what’s naturally available.

Let me know in the comments: do you already notice certain phases feel easier or harder for you? I’m curious to see how our rhythms might match up.

But if you’re ready to go a little deeper than just weekly vibes, let’s talk about how to really anchor this into your workflow.

Make It Repeatable with a Seasonal Anchor or Reiki Practice

Here’s the secret to making this stick: you need one simple system that keeps you checking in. You could set a calendar reminder to check the moon phase every Sunday night. Or you could pick one moon phase, maybe the New Moon or Full Moon, and make that your regular time to check in, zoom out, and reflect on your bigger goals.

You can even use it as a grounding ritual: light a candle, breathe deep, pull a card, or listen to one of my Lunar Reiki Ceremonies. They’re short, powerful, and designed to help you integrate whatever insights come up as you plan.

Planning isn’t just about what you do. It’s also about who you’re becoming, and moon-aligned planning makes space for both.

So no, you don’t need more structure. You need rhythm. And your nervous system loves rhythm as it allows it to stay steady and open to progress.

But if you’ve ever struggled to follow through on your plan once you’ve made it, you have to check out the next article. It’ll highlight the common mistakes that hold most people back from follow-through.

But first! What season and moon phase are you in right now, and how are you feeling in your body today?

Just remember, your planning doesn’t have to be rigid to be powerful.

You don’t have to “get it right” every week to make progress. When you plan with the moon, you create space for flow, trust, and resilience to grow.
